SANAA YEMEN
YILI since its foundation in 1989, has developed into the largest,
international association for teaching English as a foreign language, as well as
responding to the need of revitalizing Arabic language teaching in Yemen. Over 2,000
students have enrolled in the Institute. It is a department of the Queen ARWA University.
All the teachers are Arabic native speakers, who have been trained in International
Teacher Training Institute courses, adapted for the teaching of Arabic as a Foreign
Language.
Courses are offered throughout the year at all levels in Yemeni
Colloquial Arabic and modern standard Arabic; with a maximum of 14 per class, participants
are insured the optimum level of individual attention.
Environment:
It is situated on Hadda Street, just a 10 minute taxi ride to Tahrir Square (downtown
Sanaa). Facilities for course participants include a cafeteria, library and
self access center. English is also taught at the Institute, so there are many
opportunities to mix with Yemenis who are also studying.
The predominant language of Yemen is Arabic and it is
advantageous (also appreciated) if you can use Arabic in shops and with taxi drivers.
Yemeni people are extremely warm and friendly and will go out of their way to help you.
The culture is rich and interesting, so there is plenty to do on the weekends.
